‘Peace Walk For All’ Following Manchester Attack Organised By Muslim Community

Manchester’s Muslim community has organised a ‘peace walk for all’ following Monday night’s attack at the Manchester Arena.

People of all faiths will gather for the march which will begin at All Saints Gardens on Oxford Road at 5.30pm this evening and will conclude at St Peter’s Square.

Muslim businessman Sajjad Haider invited people to join to condemn the attack, show solidarity and pay their respects to the victims.

Speaking to metro.co.uk he said:

I think it is our duty.

We want to give our love to those people affected. We don’t want to see anything like this in the future.

He is expecting hundreds of people to attend, many of whom are Muslims who have spent the day fasting as part of Ramadan.

Mr Haider is originally from Pakistan but has lived in Manchester for 17 years.

He said that representatives from various different mosques in the city will attend, some Shia and some Sunni, as well as people who aren’t Muslim with people holding red roses as a symbol of peace.

The march tonight follows a separate peace march on Friday, when hundreds of children walked to Manchester Arena to pay tribute to the victims of last week’s attack.

North Manchester Jamia Mosque in Cheetham Hill organised the walk to demonstrate their disgust at the attack and to show their solidarity with victims.

Twenty-two people lost their lives, including young children and teenagers when the bomb was detonated in the foyer of the arena as an Ariana Grande concert was ending.

Over 100 other people were injured with ten still in a critical condition.
