Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has caused controversy with his latest Instagram post, causing many of his fans to unfollow him.
Despite being one of Hollywood’s most famous faces (who wouldn’t recognise him if they walked past him in the street?!) his popularity has taken a hit following the controversial post.
And Johnson doesn’t seem too fazed by the backlash he’s received, as the post is still sitting proudly on his page – despite his lost followers.
The post in question came when the American Tank Division unveiled its new tank, along with its name which was – if you haven’t already guessed – named after the Fast and Furious actor.
The Rock took to social media to say how honoured he was to have the tank named after him, causing a lot of controversy among his fans who thought he shouldn’t be endorsing something which supports war.
Posting a picture of the tank on Instagram, Johnson described both himself and the tank as ‘bad ass’ and ‘sexy AF’ – which was not well received by his 135 million followers.

Posting underneath the photo of the tank, The Rock wrote:
I’m sending a salute of respect & gratitude to the Blackhawk Squadron 🇺🇸 1st Armored Division for the honor of naming their tank (the most advanced in the world) Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
Heavy duty, bad ass, sexy AF and built to take care of business — but most importantly, thank you all for your service. Grateful to the bone.

Fans were left unimpressed with his comments, with many saying they were unfollowing the actor after the post.
One person said the actor had shown his ‘true colours’, writing underneath the post:
he just showed his true colors.. I’m not following anyone who is pro war.. we have enough psycho politicians on both sides for that one
While another agreed, writing:
Nah man, fukc this noise. I was a fan, but am unfollowing you [sic]
Others wanted to point out the true purpose of the tanks, with one saying:
Why would you want to have your name on a mass destructive weapon where its only purpose is to kill other people.
And yet another said it gave them ‘no pleasure’ to see the actor posting such things:
We love and respect you for all the charity and humanitarian acts you have done as well as being the hardest and hardest working actor in Hollywood. It gives me no pleasure to see your name associated with a weapon used for destruction and death.
Others defended The Rock, saying it is ‘an honour’ to have the tank named after him and that the actor deserved it.
Johnson is yet to respond to the criticism, and with his following still standing at a solid 135 million, I reckon it’s unlikely he’ll even notice anytime soon.
