Over the weekend Adele celebrated her 30th birthday at what looks to be one incredibly lavish party.
But just how does a superstar as big as Adele celebrate the all important 3-0? Well Adele did so with a theme inspired by the Titanic film.
Adele was dressed from head to toe in the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater, specifically from the part of the film where she goes out with Jack Dawson, of course played by Leonardo DiCaprio, to the super elite dinner party before heading downstairs to the below decks party.
Adele captioned the images:
Dirty 30! I’m not sure what I’m going to do for the next 30 years as I’ve been blessed beyond words in my life so far. Thank you to everyone for coming along for the ride the last 11 years with me. My family and friends for entertaining my super fandom of the Titanic movie.
Last night was the best night of my life. Here’s a couple pics. I’m absolutely f*cked, not sure I’ll make it out the house again!
Ps Childish Gambino how the hell do you have time to offer us so much greatness on so many platforms. I adore you x
However people have noticed something quite sickening about the images. While innocently inspired by the film at first glance, many people are pointing out that Adele enjoyed a birthday party inspired by the Titanic which tragically sank, killing huge numbers of people on its maiden voyage to New York on April 15, 1912.
As everybody well knows, the luxurious RMS Titanic left Southhampton calling at Cherbourg (France) and Cobh (Ireland) en route to New York.
However the so-called ‘unsinkable ship’ struck an iceberg 375 miles south of Newfoundland on April 14 and after just two hours and 40 minutes the ship had sunk, taking the lives of 1,503 people on board.
While most people wished Adele a happy birthday, numerous commenters mentioned the fact that she celebrated her birthday in the style of a film about a disaster which killed over 1,500 people.
One commenter wrote:
Love you but really? Titanic theme? People died.
Another simply wrote:
Titanic?!
Numerous others tweeted their disgust at the theme:
Isn’t this kinda/very inappropriate? Adele’s Titanic themed birthday party had them dancing in life jackets… Thousands of people actually died. pic.twitter.com/Ya0xOEarfH

So Adele got a Titanic themed party…sorry but this is fucked up. Yes it’s based on the movie but still it’s based on real events and many people died. I love Adele but this sooooo wrong

I def have mixed feelings about @Adele's party theme. I get that it was based off of the movie, but the movie is about a real tragedy… You know, when ppl died! Cute costumes, but the overall theme is a bit tasteless and insensitive. Life jackets?! Really?! #Titanic

Does @Adele realize that the titanic movie was based off the actually sinking of that ship where 1500 people died? Not exactly a good party theme.

People are sick for praising @Adele on her Titanic party, dancing with fucking life vests. PEOPLE DIED AND IT WAS A TRAGEDY.

What makes things that little bit more disturbing is that lifejackets were given out as free gifts at the party. A little macabre considering the day after Titanic sank 300 frozen bodies were pulled from the water around the site of its sinking.
What do you make of the party? Insensitive or not? Let us know.
