YouTubeDeciding what to do in a split second as your girlfriend is falling from a cliff can’t be easy, but the people of the Internet are not pleased with how this guy reacted in the situation.
Footage went viral last year of the moment a couple were on the edge of a high cliff preparing to jump into the clear blue water below.
As the girl in a bikini tried to position herself for the huge leap, she lost her footing on the rock and began to fall over the edge.
The unnamed girl naturally reached out and tried to cling on to her boyfriend’s ankle for support – but he pulled his leg away.
The resulting footage was and still is pretty scary. Especially that crunching sound. Fuck.
The video was uploaded to Reddit and people got really pissed off with the guy’s actions – or lack of.
A lot of the comments pointed out that such a fall could potentially be deadly, so he should have at least tried to do something.
One user said:
Soooo dangerous. You gotta commit to the jump.
Others pointed out that if the guy didn’t think he could have stopped his girlfriend from falling, he should have tried to push her further out to avoid her hitting the rocks on the way down.
People still don’t really know what the guy was doing. Maybe his feet are ticklish and he was like ‘ahh, the fuck outta here!’ Maybe he simply didn’t know what was going on and didn’t think straight. Probably the latter.
One lad commented:
He would have been dragged down with her if he let her grab him, and it’s instinct to back up if someone grabs for you.
Others were more sympathetic. Another user said:
Everyone who’s saying ” oh luckily he pulled away” etc id fine but other ppl saying…shes stupid and she’s scared….well put yourself in that position and you would try and grab anything… it’s a natural instinct…
