A Frenchman near the France v Germany friendly match hit by suicide bombers on Friday night, has explained how his mobile phone saved his life.
The man, known only as Sylvestre, told news reporters that he was talking on his mobile phone, stood metres from where a man blew himself up in a suicide attack. A piece of shrapnel struck his phone, shattering it instantly as he held it up to his head.
Sylvestre was reportedly struck in the foot and abdomen by shrapnel, but his injuries are thought to be relatively light, as two suicide blasts killed six innocent people at the stadium.
Two suicide bombs rocked the Stade De France, as it’s thought one bomber detonated himself trying to gain access to the stadium, while another exploded at a McDonalds outside. People in the stands ran towards the pitch for safety, and were told to avoid certain exits due to violence in other parts of the city.
As a precaution, all sporting events in Paris have been cancelled, as France enters three days of mourning.
