When David Beckham posted a picture to Instagram, showing him kissing daughter Harper, the majority of people viewed this as a sweet, innocent photograph of a dad spending time with his little girl.
The photo showed David and Harper at an ice skating rink, with the former England player planting a kiss on the seven-year-old’s lips.
A glittering Christmas tree visible in the background, 43-year-old David captioned the pic, ‘Christmas is coming Let’s go skate’ with a Father Christmas emoji.
However, not everyone was feeling quite so in the festive spirit…
As per, Piers Morgan entered the set of Good Morning Britain with an indignant opinion prepared on something many others would find rather innocuous.
Piers managed to turn the Instagram pic into a TV debate over whether or not parents should kiss their children on the lips, describing David as being ‘creepy’ and ‘weird’.
Piers pondered:
It’s just weird right? Who does that with their kids? Who kisses their kids on the lips?
When co-presenter Susanna Reid argued how ‘people’s parents still kiss people on the lips’, Piers was not convinced, firmly stating:
When kids are seven you don’t kiss them on the lips.
The reason I can’t watch @GMB ….. @piersmorgan 🤦🏼♂️🤬🙄 arrogant, egotistical and a plain daily annoyance. Whatever is going on he, has to be against it or think his opinion is the best. Guest Peter Andre was also brought into the debate, and was asked whether he would kiss his own children on the lips.
Peter said:
I agree with some of the points that if you’re going to put it on social media you’ll open yourself up.
But they’re taking the innocent out of everything.
The Mysterious Girl singer then added:
I probably don’t now but when they were little kids, yeah, but to me it’s taking the innocence out of everything.
In a surprise turn of events, Piers went over to Peter and gave him a smooch, complimenting his ‘soft lips’.
Piers later proceeded to blast David for sharing the picture in the first place, arguing the footballing legend had deliberately posted the picture to provoke a reaction:
They want their kids to be famous and then they complain about their privacy.
The debate has overflowed to Twitter, where many people have criticised Piers for spoiling something so innocent.
One mother tweeted:
The world has officially gone mad David beckham pecks his daughter on the lips and it makes news.Piers Morgan needs to get his mind out off the gutter.
I kiss and hug all my kids on the lips it’s called showing your kids affection.
Another person argued:
It’s people like you @piersmorgan that make fathers uncomfortable and feel that they are doing something wrong showing affection to their own children!! It’s an innocent photo.
And as for Piers Morgan, perhaps if your parents had shown you such an amazing type of love you wouldn’t be such a self righteous asshole. #piermorgan #gmb #davidbeckham

Piers Morgan is offended by David beckham kissing his own daughter on the lips… says it all doesn’t it. There’s nothing wrong with it, it’s YOUR MIND that has the problem.
