Pokemon Re-Release Gets New Nostalgia Fuelled Advert

Nintendo have shared a great new trailer for the 3DS re-releases of Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow, that will conspire to make you feel all the feelings. As soon as that familiar music squirms into your ears, you’re gonna want to catch ’em all.

Do remember that these are re-releases, not remakes. The same 8-bit black and white visuals are still on display, and the same Zubats will swoop down at you until the end of time.

Since this is to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise, it makes sense to give the fans a taste of the original exactly as it was, so as to remind us how far they’ve come.

The only real change for the 3DS version is the ability to battle and trade wirelessly. Back in the days of the Gameboy, you needed a link cable (a large, wiry monstrosity).

Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow are hitting the 3DS e-shop on February 27 – that’s 20 years to the day that Pokémon Red launched for the Gameboy in Japan.

There are 718 Pokémon now, and still going strong. If anyone fancies the much easier sounding task of catching all 151 original Pokémon (I never did manage it), maybe this is your chance for glory.
