GettyPolice have confirmed they couldn’t locate any ‘evidence of shots fired’ at the incident at Oxford Circus Tube Station, in London earlier this evening.
At 16:37 this evening, police responded to reports of gun shots near the popular station.
Armed officers evacuated the underground station and cordoned off the area, as people were seen running from the scene.
At 16:37 we were called to Oxford Street Tube following reports of shots fired. Armed officers from BTP and @metpoliceuk are on scene working to establish exactly what happened.

At this stage, we have received one report of a woman sustaining a minor injury when leaving Oxford Circus station. There are no other reported casualties. More updates to follow.

The statement from Metropolitan Police read:
Police were called at 16:38hrs on Friday, 24 November to a number of reports of shots fired on Oxford Street and underground at Oxford Circus tube station.
Police have responded as if the incident is terrorist related.
Armed and unarmed officers are on scene and dealing [with the situation] along with colleagues from British Transport Police.

Singer Olly Murs was also caught up in the attack and tweeted about hearing gunshots in the Selfridges store in the area.

Oxford Street station has now been re-opened.
Those taking shelter in nearby shops have been told to emerge.
