If you’ve ever been waiting around for a package or parcel to be delivered in the post you’ll know the frustration of not knowing when or even if it will arrive.

Whether it’s an important letter you’ve been waiting on for a while, or a new outfit you need in time for the weekend, it’s a complete pain in the arse when deliveries don’t arrive on time.

And some people in New Jersey were likely left feeling extremely frustrated last week when a postal worker decided to dump everyone’s post on the side of the road.

Facebook user Kewnoneal Bennett shared a picture of the abandoned items on September 30:

If your looking for your mail it maybe on river road by 36st station…share this post ppl information is out on the street

Understandably, the man was concerned about people’s privacy, writing:

If your looking for your mail it maybe on river road by 36st station…share this post ppl information is out on the street.

According to NJ.com, the mail was only discovered on Sunday September 30, but was dated all the way back to August 8. I’m envisioning A LOT of angry customers.

The mail was sent out from the Roxborough Station Post Office in Philadelphia, Special Agent Scott Balfour with the US Postal Service Office of Inspector General told the publication – but apparently never reached its destination.

When the employee was finally tracked down though, it was revealed they had resigned from the postal service on September 8.

It sounds to me like an employee who knew they were about to quit so decided to do even less than the absolute bare minimum in the week leading up to it.

I mean, it’s brazen to say the least. Whoever the culprit was they didn’t even bother to hide the mail, they just left it sitting in plain sight!

And it was clearly spotted by eagle-eyed Bennett, whose post was shared nearly 4,000 times at the time of writing (October 5).

And people were mad, to say the least. One person commented:

My thing is if u had no intention of wanting your job u should of quit n not went in. Jobs r hard to get n to have a post office job is a blessing. Idk what happened but mail is an important priority. Thank u for sharing.

Whilst another said:

That looks like a giant pile of, “F*ck it. I quit.” As a postal worker, I get it and at the same time, what a piece of cr*p and also.. still illegal and punishable by law.

Although some people sympathised with the courier:

There is 2 sides to every story. Yeah it’s wrong that it happened but what caused this to happen??? It kills me on how fast we point fingers at each other when there is for sure more to the story here.

Whatever happened, people were left without their mail for one reason or another and it caused a slight uproar.

Special Agent Scott Balfour went on to explain:

We do not anticipate any further action against this individual. The Roxborough Station Post Office is going to deliver the mail.

So there we have it. The mail is getting delivered, albeit nearly two months late! I’m guessing there’s going to be a lot of missed appointments which will have to get rescheduled.
