When your teacher used to ask you what you wanted to be when you grew up, the same old answers would always arise; firefighter, nurse, actor, cup. Wait. what?
If it was always your dream to take on the role of a ceramic hero in your own beverage-related videogame, then the new trailer from Arkane Studios for the reboot of Prey has got what you need. Watch below and all will become clear. Hopefully.
Ahhh yes, now things are taking shape. Of a cup. Using the Mimic Matter ability, you can restructure yourself as an inanimate object – like a coffee mug – to squeeze through tight spaces, much like in Arkane’s other big title Dishonored, where you can transform into a rat for similar tomfoolery.
The trailer shows off a few cool gameplay mechanics like the Gloo Canon which freezes enemies in their tracks with big globs of goo. Then there’s the fact that said enemies can mimic their surroundings so cunningly, you could walk right past them without even knowing they’re there.
Prey – in a nutshell – see’s you play as Morgan Yu. He’s the subject of some wild experiments that apparently have the goal of improving the human race. Naturally though, not everything is as it seems, as you awake aboard Talos I in the year 2032. You must uncover the secrets hiding in the depths of the space station while being hunted by the mysterious alien force that has taken over.
If you fancy having a stab at being a cup yourself, you can give it a whirl when Prey drops some time next year on PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
