This may come as a shock, but during his life, the extremely talented music legend that is Prince never cared much for the Kardashian family.
He not only booted Kim Kardashian off the stage during one of his concerts, it seems he also got the reality star’s family members axed from his New Girl episode in 2014.
On Monday, Zooey Deschanel revealed to Conan O’Brian on Conan how she ended up working with the legendary singer on her Fox series. She said: “He spent a lifetime cultivating mystique. And then one September day three years ago maybe, I got an email from his manager saying he liked watching the show and wanted to come on.”
The 2014 episode ended up featuring a party thrown by Prince, and included appearances from models Alessandra Ambrosio and Ana Beatriz Barros, along with Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
But you’ll notice despite the family’s ‘popularity’ and ‘relevance’ (we use those words lightly) at the time, the episode did not feature any Kardashians.
According to Deschanel, Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian actually filmed their New Girl cameos, but they never aired. After one of Prince’s representatives mentioned that he hopes the celebrities book are ‘not a Kardashian’, Kris and Khloe were axed from the show.
Zooey said: “I felt so bad because obviously everyone had gone out of their way to be there on that day…but Prince was running the show.”
It looked like Prince disliked them so much that when it was time for him to film his cameo, every single piece of evidence that the family had been on set was destroyed. All scripts, call sheets, and anything else that had their name or face on it was burned in an actual bonfire.
And Zooey’s New Girl co-star Lamorne Morris (who plays Winston) confirmed it all, Vanity Fair reports.
Apparently, this was the exchange between Prince and the people in charge of New Girl:
[Prince said] ‘What are the [Kardashians] doing here?’ [The show’s producers] said, ‘Well, they’re in the show. They’ve been invited to a Prince party.’ [Prince] goes, ‘They would never be invited to a Prince party.’
There you have it. The Kardashians would never have been invited to a Prince party.
Sounds like a get together I’d want to go to.
