What a week it’s been for Prince Harry. Mere days after his star-studded wedding day, he has fallen victim to a vicious bee attack.

The impertinent bumblebee didn’t seem to know or care it was buzzing in the face of the sixth in line to the throne, pestering him as he gave a speech in honour of Prince Charles’ 70th birthday bash.

The newly married Duke of Sussex swatted at the bee intruder, telling guffawing crowds, ‘I’m sorry, that bee really got me.’ His wife Meghan appeared to find the whole incident particularly amusing, giggling and clapping her hand over her mouth alongside her new stepmother-in-law, the Duchess of Cornwall.

It appears the punk rock bee has managed to dodge the Tower of London this time, zooming off to cause yet more anarchy.

In his otherwise touching speech, 33-year-old Harry praised his father for his lifelong dedication to worthy causes, describing him as a ‘inspiration’:

It is your selfless drive to effect change – whether that is to improve the lives of those who are on the wrong path, to save an important piece of our natural heritage, or to protect a particular species under threat – which William and I draw inspiration from every day.

The proud son added:

So, Pa, while I know that you’ve asked that today not be about you, you must forgive me if I don’t listen to you – much like when I was younger – and instead, I ask everyone here to say a huge thank you to you, for your incredible work over nearly 50 years.

Work that has given self-confidence and opportunity to thousands of young people who might not have had the best start in life; or to champion causes like climate change long before almost anyone else was talking about it; and above all, for your vision and ability to bring people together to make change happen.

Interestingly, Prince Charles’ birthday isn’t actually until November 14. However, in typical royal fashion, there will be various celebratory events taking place throughout the year. This particular garden party was to honour the heir to the throne’s commitment to charitable work as well as his various military associations.

Much like his wife Camilla, Charles wears many hats. He founded The Prince’s Trust back in 1976, and has been a vocal advocate for various environmental concerns since the 1980s.

Check out the prince being upstaged below:

Many of us commoners have been buzzing with mirth at the sight of this mischievous bee vying for his own miniature place in the history books.

One person chortled:

I just watched a video of Prince Harry being distracted by a bee and I can’t stop laughing.

Another chuckled:

Can you imagine how gassed up the ‘audacious bee’ that upstaged prince harry at Charles’ 70th bday bash must be.

The family themselves were all smiles, but did they perhaps consider the queen bee had sent one of her inner hive circle members to overthrow the human monarchy? Hmm…
