Prince William has revealed the real reason as to why he’s so ecstatic about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement.
Speaking to ITV’s Chris Ship during a two-day state visit to Helsinki, in Finland, The Duke Of Cambridge said he was personally happy for the newly engaged couple as it will mean Harry will stop stealing food from his fridge.
Apparently Harry’s food heists have been have been going on ‘for the last few years’.
In William’s tongue-and-cheek interview he said:
Personally, I hope it means he stays out of my fridge and will stop him scrounging my food which he’s done for the last few years.
William is currently on a two-day state visit to Helsinki where he will meet with head of state Sauli Niinisto at the presidential palace. It marks the future King Of England’s first official state visit to Finland as the country celebrates its 100th Anniversary of Independence.
The Duke of Cambridge was welcomed by President Niinistö, who was in turned presented with a special message from the Queen.
During a speech at the Foundling Museum in London the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, also extended her congratulations to the couple saying:
William and I are absolutely thrilled. It’s such exciting news. It’s a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment.
After weeks of rumours Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their engagement to world on 27th November.
Before then the two had been dating exclusively, when news first broke of her and Harry’s relationship the Suits actress was subjected to a ‘wave of abuse and harassment’.
After the announcement the happy couple gave an exclusive interview with the BBC’s Mishal Husain. In the interview Meghan revealed how Harry purposed to her, which she says was ‘sweet, natural and very romantic’.

She told Husain:
Trying to roast a chicken and it just – just an amazing surprise, it was so sweet and natural and very romantic. He got on one knee.
Harry added:
She didn’t even let me finish, she said can I say yes, can I say yes and then there was hugs and I had the ring in my finger and I was like can I – can I give you the ring? She goes – oh yes the ring
He also revealed the engagement ring he gave to Meghan contained two smaller diamonds which were taken from his late mother’s, Princess Diana’s, ‘personal collection’ of jewellery.
Unfortunately for us mere-mortals Harry and William have not only put men under pressure to one-up their proposals for their future spouses, but Harry’s upcoming wedding in May 2018 will not be considered a public holiday, business as usual people.
However Meghan will be getting a royal title, with fashion magazine Vogue predicting they will both received the title of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex after the wedding.
