PAIf you ever thought that the monarchy was nothing more than a pointless tourist attraction reminiscent of colonial times, then you might want to think again.
Thanks to good old Queen Elizabeth II, your local boozer is set to be extending its opening hours on June 10 and 11 this year.
And this isn’t some half-true rumour. David Cameron just confirmed it during Prime Minister’s Questions, and Tories never lie *cough cough*.

To coincide with the Queen’s 90th birthday, the Prime Minister told MPs:
We will be extending pub opening hours on the 10th and 11th of June to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The date of the Queen’s June ‘birthday’ (her real birthday is in April) happens to fall on a weekend, so the weekend will be a national celebration this year.
When the Queen turns 90 she will be the only British monarch to have ever reached that age.
