Quentin Tarantino has announced that his next film will be a drama centred on the Manson Family Murders.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the man behind Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs will write and direct the as-yet untitled film and is already talking to actors about casting.

The film will concern the notorious murders of five people, including pregnant actress Sharon Tate, by the followers of Charles Manson in 1968.

Sources told the entertainment website film that Tarantino is currently finishing off the script and the plan is to shoot the film in 2018, possibly in summer.

They also reported that Brad Pitt, who has previously worked with the filmmaker on Inglorious Basterds, and Jennifer Lawrence, have been approached by the director to star, possibly with Pitt as the lead detective and Lawrence as Tate.

Tarantino’s regular collaborator Samuel L. Jackson is also said to be slated for a lead role which would mark their seventh time working together.

Contrary to these reports, Deadline has said this morning that Margot Robbie has also been approached to play Tate, the eight-and-a-half month pregnant wife of director Roman Polanski who was murdered at her home.

If all this is true, this will be Tarantino’s first film that is based on a real-life event.

It also may be his last picture since the director has been rather vocal in the past about retiring after making his tenth film.

I’m pretty sure if this is the case, Tarantino will be going out with a bang.
