Rachel McAdams Sparks Huge Debate After Posing With Breast Pump For Photoshoot

Rachel McAdams has divided opinions after posing for a photoshoot with a breast pump. 

The 40-year-old actor welcomed her son into the world in April, but she’s not been the kind of mother to flood social media with pictures of her bundle of joy. In fact, she kept her pregnancy under-wraps and hasn’t even revealed her son’s name to the world.

But of course that’s not to say she’s at all ashamed of being a mother –  far from it. Her latest photoshoot confirmed that as she posed in Versace, diamonds and a lesser-seen accessory, the breast pump.

According to Who What Wear, the new mother had to grab the pump in between takes on the photoshoot, and wanting to portray the reality of life as a glamorous working mum, she and photographer Claire Rothstein decided to make the pump part of the images.

Rothstein explained the story behind the image in her caption as she posted it on Instagram, writing:

A million reasons why I wanted to post this picture.

Obviously #rachelmcadams looks incredible and was quite literally the dream to work with but also this shoot was about 6 months post her giving birth to her son, so between shots she was expressing/pumping as still breastfeeding.

The caption continued:

We had a mutual appreciation disagreement about who’s idea it was to take this picture but I’m still sure it was hers which makes me love her even more. Breastfeeding is the most normal thing in the world and I can’t for the life of me imagine why or how it is ever frowned upon or scared of.

I don’t even think it needs explaining but just wanted to put this out there, as if it even changes one person’s perception of something so natural, so normal, so amazing then that’s great. Besides she’s wearing Versace and @bulgariofficial diamonds and is just f*cking major.

Side note: I did not look anywhere near as fabulous as this when feeding/pumping. And that’s ok too.

Though McAdams had many other photos taken on the shoot, it was the breast pump one which really got people talking.

Countless people have praised the actor for showing off her role as a working mum, with many fans taking to Twitter to share their appreciation:

Despite the huge amount of love the image received, there were still some people who had opposing opinions.

One disapproving person wrote:

This isn’t empowering, it’s Euro trash and #despicable. I have nothing against women needing to feed their babies in public/breast pump.

The statement being made here is that the so-called photographer and #RachelMcAdams have taken a natural thing and smeared it to “sell” #Versace These “people have lost their minds, and morality [sic].

Another tweeted:

Rachel McAdams poses with breast pump in magazine shoot- Seriously, do we have to see everything these days? Anybody want to see me cr*p? It’s natural and when I’m ready to do it it’s beautiful.

I have to say I’m on McAdams’ side with this one, it’s a great photo and it’s certainly got people talking!
