You may need to cancel your weekend plans, a rare ‘black moon’ is set to appear this Friday, and apparently it’s a sign the world is going to end.
On September 30, a Black Moon event will happen, which means the illuminated side of the moon will be caught in the Earth’s shadow, making it nearly invisible in the sky.
And although the phenomenon happens roughly every 32 months, conspiracy theorists are claiming this one is special because of other universal activity this month.
The first day of September brought with it a ‘ring of fire’ solar eclipse – where the moon falls in line with the Earth and the sun above Africa, making it appear as if the sun had darkened.
This, coupled with the Black Moon, has got conspiracy theorists fearing the worst, RT reports.
And Christians have been quick to point out the significance of both events with regard to the Bible.
According to website Signs Of The End Times, the Book of Matthew, chapter 24:29, reads:
Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.
Basically, the theorists believe that the first part of the prophecy was fulfilled earlier this month with the solar eclipse, and Friday marks the day ‘the moon shall not give her light.’
One theorist wrote on Facebook:
Those signs are letting us know that Jesus is soon coming. We are approaching the end of our world and the end of life on Earth for all human being. Every day, we have to come closer to our saviour Jesus Christ. For none can escape for what is coming for the Earth.
However, scientists say there is nothing to fear, and the Earth will carry on as normal during and after the Black Moon.
The Black Moon will mainly be visible in the Western Hemisphere, over North and South America, with the most western portions of Europe seeing it too.
It will reach its peak at 20:11 Eastern Time in the U.S, or 01:11 on Saturday morning in the UK.
So don’t quit your 9-5 job just yet.
