Focus Point Real Madrid have become the latest football club to offer their support to refugees across Europe.
The Spanish giants have followed clubs from the Bundesliga and Celtic in offering money and aid to Syrian refugees, with president Florentino Perez claiming a million euros will be donated to the growing crisis.
The money will go towards helping the Spanish government to help deal with the influx of refugees arriving in the country.
goalPerez spoke to the president of the Spanish government, Mariano Rajoy, to discuss how the money should be used, and Real Madrid later released a statement.
They claimed:
Faithful to its commitment to charity, the club has taken this decision (to donate €1m) with the aim of supporting men, women and children who have been forced to leave their homes in order to flee from war and death.
The pair talked about this contribution and other measures that the club will put in place in order to collaborate with the care of refugees that arrive in Spain.

The Ballon d’Or holder is statistically the most powerful footballer in the world on social media, having more followers than any of his peers over various platforms, and is a vocal supporter of multiple charities.
The forward has donated plenty of money to humanitarian funds in the past, and has even met with victims of Tsunamis and other disasters.

You have to hope that more clubs will follow suit, and that players will use their power on social media to raise awareness of the crisis and do all they can to help.
