Reviews For ‘It’ Are In And It’s Absolutely F*cking Terrifying

The film adaptation of Stephen King’s novel It is one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year – and the first reviews are in!

Pressure is on for director Andy Muschietti as not only do fans adore the original book but a two-part feature-length television show that starred Tim Curry as Pennywise is also much-loved.

Thankfully though, early reactions suggest It is ‘totally terrifying’ and ‘scary as shit’.

Now the embargo has been lifted, social media has been flooded with overwhelmingly positive reviews:

Despite people expecting the horror to be absolutely terrifying, I mean Stephen King himself has given his seal of approval, critics are also praising its sense of humour and emotional storylines.

Erik Davis, editor of movie ticket website Fandango wrote:

It is creepy, bloody, super funny, adorably romantic and hands down among my favorite movies of the year.

Felt a Poltergeist meets the Monster Squad vibe – a great example of a film where its R rating elevates it in all the best ways.

Perri Nemiroff of Collider added:

It movie is everything I hoped for & more. Has heart, laughs and tons of incredible scares. Fell in love with The Losers. Didn’t want it to end.

The early praise is great news for the filmmakers as they’ve been long eyeing a sequel but have been waiting to see if the first It film will be a success.

Based on the first half of King’s 1986 novel, the film follows The Losers’ Club – a group of outcasts who must face the terrifying clown Pennywise – as they attempt to track down the children who are disappearing from their town.

As if the film wasn’t scary enough, Warner Bros. decided to play a chilling trick on critics by leaving them a ‘present’ in their hotel rooms:
