Robot Security Guard Kills Itself By Driving Into Pond While On Duty

A robot security guard found itself having a rough day in the office when it drove into a pond and drowned itself.

That’s right, we’ve reached the age where robots act as security, who knew?

Knightscope, the company behind the K5 robot, markets them as being better than real guards because it ‘never gets bored of what it does’. Ok then.

Pictures from Georgetown Waterfront shopping centre and office block show human staff looking at how best to fish their poor robo-guard colleague out of the pool.

One worker managed to catch the rather sorry-looking robot floating around in the pool. He said: “We were promised flying cars, instead we got suicidal robots.”

Stacy Dean Stephens, who works in marketing and sales at Knightscope, told Cnet it was an ‘isolated incident’ for the K5 robot and that ‘no people were harmed or involved in any way’.

Only in 2017.
