Ruby Rose Faces Major Backlash After Throwing Huge Restaurant Tantrum

Ruby Rose is not one to mess with.

The Orange Is The New Black star was apparently kicked out of a restaurant in New Orleans on Friday after throwing a massive ‘tantrum’ and throwing chips at staff.

The incident took place when Ruby, who was with her assistant and tour manager, got frustrated with the service at Rebellion Bar and Urban Kitchen and began arguing with one of the waiters.

The restaurant’s owner, Seung Hong, told NOLA.com: “She was having like a tantrum. She was awful. She was a horrible person.”

Ruby – who’s been sober for years after developing an ‘unhealthy relationship with alcohol’ – has since admitted throwing her food at staff in a lengthy explanation posted on Facebook, saying that she lost her temper when her sobriety was mocked.

She wrote:

We waited 60 minutes for fries and over 90 minutes for food that never actually arrived. When I asked about it, the bartender offered us drinks. I explained I’m sober, but thank you.

He then made some really rude and vulgar comments to the table. When someone makes repeated derogatory jokes about the sobriety I worked so hard to achieve, it’s hard not to react emotionally.

So I threw a singular fry at him. Then he came back as we were getting ready to leave and continued making awful comments, so I continued with the fries.

She went on to say she was ‘deeply regretful to the French fry’ and wishes she hadn’t reacted at all. She added: “Maybe next time I won’t throw fries, then again, maybe next time that bartender won’t tell someone who is sober to ‘go call your fucking sponsor!’”

Despite her explanation though, people have been calling her out in the comments:

So while she may (or may not) have been sincere in apologising, it looks like no one believes her story or appreciates her – as many commenters put it – half-ass apology.

Looks like New Orleans will be off Ruby’s travel itinerary for a little while.
