Rupert Grint may have made his name stumbling over mild profanities and fooling about with powerful men beyond his capabilities, but it seems not much has changed for the Harry Potter child star.

Well and truly typecast into the bumbling British buffoon – the Hugh Grant of our generation – Grint has been cast to play a lead role in Crackle’s TV adaptation of Guy Ritchie’s 2000 film, Snatch.

While the teaser trailer has sparked some excitement and Grint’s performance promises to pay homage to the exquisite comedic stylings of the original, the series might be the victim of repeating iconic film history.

It is the adaptation that literally no one asked for. Snatch was tip-top, Tommy, and we all liked the colour.

The new tween cast pales into comparison to the ensemble of original diamond heist hard men, Brad Pitt, Vinny Jones, Benicio Del Toro and Jason Statham – not to mention the ex-KGB member, Boris the Blade.

Crackle’s glamorised HD vision of the London criminal underground, embodied by Ed Westwick – of Gossip Girl fame – and Luke Pasqualino of Skins sadly threatens to take the jam right out of Guy Ritchie’s donut.

No one is quite sure what to expect from the Crackle series, which will stream for free from mid-March.

All bets are off and the pedigree chums are on thin ice.

So, just try not to butcher this one, fellas…

You don’t want to make a new nemesis and I’m betting there are a lot of people out there who love the original Snatch and own a pig farm.
