Ryan Reynolds is donating a pink Deadpool suit for auction to raise money for a cancer charity.
The campaign has been launched to raise money for the charity F**k Cancer – an organisation ‘committed to prevention and early detection of cancer’.
Reynolds said supporting the charity is a fight in which ‘everyone can be a hero’.
In a TV advert, Reynolds, dressed as his alter ego, is seen wearing a pink version of his Deadpool costume.
He says:
You may be wondering why the pink suit? It’s so the world can see I have a big old heart-on. That’s heart with a ‘t’. For my new obsession, pink – the colour, not the singer. Personally I’m more of a Celine guy.
This is one fight where everyone can be a hero, no superpowers, capes or lame CG costumes needed – just your money. Seriously, we need that – these suits aren’t cheap.
Reynolds also shared the link on his Twitter account with the caption: ‘Suit for sale. Worn once. Made lovingly with over 10,000 individually selected pink gummy bears’.
In the clip, Reynolds suggests the winner could add to their wardrobe, or their S&M-cellar – and says the winner could even hang it on a pole for birds, children and the elderly.
All the options.
A statement on the Omaze website reads:
Hey, you. Yeah, you. We’re breaking the fourth wall (do websites have a fourth wall?) to tell you all about the awesome thing you just won: an official, custom-made Deadpool suit of your very own.
Since Deadpool isn’t like any superhero, this suit isn’t just like any movie prop… it’s pink and helps an awesome cause kick cancer’s butt just like Deadpool does.
Whether you want to rock it at the grocery store (please do that!), wear it to your wedding (please don’t do that!) or give it to a friend, this exclusive piece of film history is all yours.
You can donate money from $10 to $5,000. Those who donate more than $1,000 will receive additional gifts including a signed movie poster or a personalised voicemail message from Reynolds as Deadpool.
The trailer to the second Deadpool movie only very recently dropped, and it looks like we’re in for a treat.
The Marvel film, starring Ryan Reynolds as sardonic anti-hero Deadpool, is sure to whet the appetites of punters across the world.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadpool 2′s test scores have come back even higher than the first, as audiences loved seeing the ‘Merc with a Mouth’ back on the big screen.
In the trailer, and in an apparent dig at his wife, Reynolds makes cheeky reference to one of Blake Lively’s first films The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
Right at the end of the trailer, Deadpool says:
Doing the right thing is messy, but if you wanna fight for what’s right, sometimes you have to fight dirty.
And that’s why Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants is pure pornography.
A step up from their usual online ‘shade-throwing’, I think you’ll agree.
Deadpool 2 crashes its way into UK cinemas May 16 and US theatres May 18
