@Jimmy Kimmel Live/YouTube12 years since the release of Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, it seems the fictitious journalist is back on the streets to find out about the American voting system.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the man behind the moustache – Sacha Baron Cohen – introduced the segment which saw Borat going door to door in a LA neighbourhood to talk to residents about American politics and how they’re voting in the mid-terms.
Kimmel introduces the clip by saying they asked Cohen’s ‘friend’ to go to a ‘wealthy neighbourhood in Los Angeles’ to talk to people about the state of American politics.
The comedian even posted it on his Instagram, writing in trademark Borat phrasing:
I voted, Great Success.
The video of Borat begins with the character saying:
Russia interfere with the presidential election, but now all eyes are on them, so it’s up to Kazakhstan to swing the mid-terms for premier Trump.
He then goes on to say he’s come to California to ‘do election tampering’.
As Borat visits a few houses, he seems incredulous that women can vote in America, asks what’s wrong with being racist, and has an interesting exchange with a woman about the Trump administration’s treatment of migrant children.
He says:
We hear this nasty fake news people say that the Donald Trump is bad to immigrant children. We hear that he keep the Mexican children in cages…
To which the woman, after giving Borat a high five, replies:
So many came over here they had to be somewhere… They just had somewhere to keep them safe temporarily.
Before adding:
It was like a campout for them, until they could be reunited with their parents.
PALater, after having a discussion with a man in which Borat calls Trump a racist and says ‘what is the problem with being a racist? I am a racist, it’s nice’, he then asks to use the man’s bathroom.
Emerging from the bathroom with just a towel around his waist and holding a toothbrush, Borat has done the classic Borat thing and overstepped the mark. Ah, Borat.
He then visits a polling station ‘to see democracy in action… not!’ before trying to deter Jewish voters with bacon and saying ‘you shall not pass’, and calling Jimmy Kimmel a ‘liberal elitist Hollywood bubble globalist mouthpiece’.

Of course, it’s not the first time we’ve seen Sacha Baron Cohen ruthlessly troll America and its political leaders.
He recently brought back Ali G to take a few swipes at Trump.
And then there’s his recent TV show Who Is America?, in which the comedian waved a ‘paedophile detector‘ over former Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, proposed building America’s largest mosque in the strongly Republican town of Kingman, Arizona, and somehow persuaded founder and president of Youth Shooters of America Daniel Roberts, to put a strap-on dildo in his mouth (while Cohen was wearing it).
Needless to say, the victims of his pranks were not very happy about it.
