Sainsbury’s Staff Bring Food To Police Officers At London Bridge

Kind Sainsbury’s staff have been handing out food to police on duty, the morning after the terror attack in London. 

Workers from the supermarket chain have been pictured around Borough High Street, London Bridge, distributing food to officers in the aftermath of Saturday night’s depraved terror attack on the city.

The picture was posted to Twitter and captioned with ‘Sainsbury’s staff are bringing sandwiches and snacks to the police.’

The staff spoke to the Telegraph about their act of kindness:

We’re not open until midday but we just wanted to give them some food because some of them have been working overnight.

We have told them they can use our canteen and toilets if they need to throughout the day.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick confirmed seven people had died in the ‘appalling and tragic’ terror attack, which saw a van plough into pedestrians on London Bridge.

Three men allegedly then exited the vehicle and proceeded to stab people at ‘random’ in a frenzied rampage through the busy streets, bars and restaurants of London Bridge and Borough Market.

Witnesses have said they heard police firing into Brindisa Tapas in Borough Market, not far away from the earlier incident on the bridge.

Another witness at the scene of the London Bridge attack reported hearing ‘tremendous gunfire’ that lasted for ‘quite a few minutes’.

BBC reporter Holly Jones was on the bridge at the time of the incident and gave BBC News an eye-witness report, saying the van was driven by a man and was ‘probably travelling at about 50 miles an hour’.

This latest vile attack comes just 12 days after the Manchester arena bombing which claimed the lives of 22 people and severely injured around 60 more.

Last night’s atrocity is the third terror incident since March, which saw a car and knife attack take place on Westminster police, killing five people, including a police officer.
