Following the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, which left 17 people dead, the President of the United States’ response hasn’t been well received.
In particular, his suggestion to prevent mass shootings by arming teachers hasn’t gone down well and has sparked yet another debate about gun control laws within America.
Without pointing out the obvious, the ideology of arming teachers within high school’s across America seems highly problematic – without even giving it much thought my mind scrambles to an array of questions such as: Who’s to say teachers will be able to respond effectively to active shooters; What happens if a student tries to grab the gun and succeeds?
It’s been known for celebrities to speak up about political issues – especially since President Trump has come into power – but now, it looks as though he’s made another Hollywood A-lister seriously p’d off!
Samuel L. Jackson – a firm favourite of most movie fans, thanks to his roles in classics such as Pulp Fiction, Coach Carter, as well as all those Marvel films – has taken to social media to blast The Donald.
The actor seemed to sum up some of the problems with Trump’s plan in one succinct tweet, writing:
Can someone that’s been in a Gunfight tell that Muthaf*kka that’s Never been in a Gunfight, the flaws of his Arm The Teachers plan??!! [sic]
It seems his tweet has been met wth a lot of admiration, with responses seemingly all saluting the Jackie Brown star:
Of course, there were those who disagreed and let their feelings known:
For those who don’t really know where they stand on such laws, take a moment to watch a powerful and emotive speech from Emma Gonzalez – a Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor.
She called out President Donald Trump, Washington, the National Rifle Association and those opposed to stronger firearm regulation for ‘BS’ at a gun control protest in Fort Lauderdale recently.
She addressed the crowds, still visibly upset and said:
To every politician who is taking donations from the NRA — shame on you!
Emma has now gained more followers on social media than the NRA and has garnered attention across the globe.
She recently appeared on television in the US to discuss her political stance:

The shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was the eighteenth shooting to take place within the confines of a school in 2018.
Whether Emma is right, whether Donald Trump is right, whether Samuel L. Jackson is right, something needs to be done to ensure shootings like this, as well as Columbine and Sandy Hook never happen again.
Our thoughts continue to go out to all those affected by this tragedy.
