Don’t you hate it when the person next to you uses your arm rest? Or when the kid behind you keeps kicking your seat? Or when a Saudi Prince books seats for his 80 hawkes and you’re surrounded by birds of prey?

Yeah, me too.

An image posted Monday morning on Reddit of 80 birds on a plane is going viral, and it’s as bizarre as you’d imagine.

Reddit

The photo shows dozens of birds, each in its own seat in the central rows of the aircraft. The Reddit user who uploaded the photo wrote: “My captain friend sent me this photo. Saudi prince bought ticket for his 80 hawks.”

It’s a rare addition to the travel etiquette list but a serious one nonetheless.

I mean, there are a number of problems with this: The noise, the smell, and where they shit to name a few. But also 100 other things.

And in the rare event of some serious turbulence, what happens? Are they tied down? It doesn’t look like it, in which case you can only assume that you’ll have 80 birds of prey flying around the cabin which – just going out on a limb here – doesn’t seem too safe.

It’s not clear which airline the birds are flying with, although many on Reddit have speculated they could be on a Qatar Airways flight.

But as one Redditor pointed out, if it was with Qatar, it couldn’t have been in economy. They have a maximum of 6 falcons allowed in the cabin. Seriously.

Under the header ‘Falcons’, the company states:

You are permitted to carry one falcon on board the Economy Class passenger cabin of an aircraft, and a maximum of six falcons are permitted within the Economy Class cabin of an aircraft (country regulations may apply).

So next time you’re complaining about that guy snoring next to you, be glad you’re not surrounding by 80 birds of prey.
