The man accused of punching a disabled army veteran in the face says he lashed out because the man wouldn’t let his daughter stroke his dog.

According to ABC Dominick Vidal of Syracuse, New York, turned himself into police after surveillance photos of him from the Fayetteville Dunkin’ Donuts, where the incident took place, were recognised by his co-workers.

Police from Manlius say Vidal became angry with the victim and punched him twice in the face after he told his daughter she could not pet his dog because it was a service animal.

The cowardly aggressor fled the scene shortly after the unprovoked attack whilst the unnamed veteran was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

According to ABC he told police he overreacted and ‘should not have done what he did.’ However that isn’t enough to get the 21-year-old off the hook.

He has now been charged with third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Fayetteville Court on January 12. Anger management maybe?
