A protestor who appeared to be yelling at Donald Trump tried to rush onto the stage at his rally in Dayton, Ohio on Saturday morning.

Trump’s speech was interrupted as the Secret Service rushed to protect the Republican candidate. He appeared to be shaken by the incident, but then thanked the crowd for warning him, reports CNN.

According to NBC, Trump said to the audience: “I was ready for him. But it’s much easier if the cops do it, don’t we agree?”

The protestor’s motivation remains unclear, but the man who tried rushing the stage, Thomas Dimassimo, was later arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office said. He was released on bail Saturday evening.

This incident comes after a massive protest hit Trump’s rally in Chicago on Friday night, which forced his campaign to cancel the event.

Trump earlier told the crowd the protests that forced him to postpone a rally in Chicago on Friday was a ‘planned attack’ that ‘came out of nowhere.’

He also claimed that more than 25,000 people were registered for the rally at University of Illinois at Chicago Pavilion on Friday. But protests quickly broke out among some of those in attendance as they waited for Trump to speak.

Trump described the clashes between protestors and his supporters ‘disgraceful’, which led to five arrests and two police officers being injured.

Earlier in the day, Trump blamed ‘thugs’ who denied him his First Amendment rights at the rally.

After his rally in Chicago was eventually called off, Trump told Fox News that the protesters there weren’t directing their anger at him.

Trump said: “This has a lot to do with jobs.It has a lot to do with the incompetent running of a country.”
