A video uploaded to the official Sonic The Hedgehog YouTube channel shows the Shia LaBeouf motivational video spliced in with footage from Sonic Generations. I say again, this is official.
Sega appear to have been showing brief glimpses of life recently with their “sorry we done fucked up” announcement last week, and are now keen to show that they’re not only alive, but also have a sense of humor.
The tongue in cheek video shows an unconscious Sonic being goaded by LaBeouf to “just do it” in the final scene from Generations, before finally realising his dreams. Last week Sega stated that they would be rebuilding the company and that more news would be coming soon, and this trailer could well be a hint at the revival of the Sonic franchise. Sonic Generations was originally released in 2011 to Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC to decent reviews.
The YouTube notes state:
We’ve just released a new (fictional) DLC for Sonic Generations that adds actual cannibal Shia Lebouf into one of the game’s final cutscenes.
Hopefully this is a sign of better things to come from Sega who are keen to re-engage with the audience it lost. My money would be on a Dreamcast 2 announcement with a “roots” Sonic game coming pretty shortly.
