An 11-year-old girl has been airlifted from the Splash Canyon ride at Drayton Manor theme park following a major incident.
The incident at the Staffordshire theme park has caused a ride to be closed down, after reports of someone falling into the water.
The girl, believed to be from the Leicester area, has been airlifted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and her parents have been informed.
The park reported that the Splash Canyon was shut today due to reports of someone falling into the water.
Emergency services and paramedics were at the scene, and ambulance crews were called to the park near Tamworth at 2.18 this afternoon.
West Midlands Ambulance Service has released the following statement:
The Splash Canyon ride has been open since 1993, an involves 21 round boats of six people making their way around a water rapid.
The condition of the girl is unknown and a statement from park bosses is expected to be delivered within the hour.
