Taking the prestigious role of Shia LaBeouf will be actor Lucas Hedges who starred in critically acclaimed films such as Manchester By The Sea, Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Hedges will be playing a younger version of Shia LaBeouf while LaBeouf has cast himself as Shia LaBeouf’s law-breaking, alcohol-abusing father.
The story will follow the journey of Shia LaBeouf’s attempts to mend his broken relationship with his father over the course of a decade. It will be directed by Alma Har’el, this will be her first feature-length debut as she has mostly shot for music videos, short films and documentaries, Variety reports.

You’d expect Hardy, who is known himself to carry some on-set heat with his fellow cast members (just ask Charlize Theron), to harbour some animosity towards him. However, rather surprisingly he said he respected the hell out of him for doing it. He claimed LaBeouf’s behaviour is a symptom of the ‘paradoxical’ job of an actor.
Talking to Esquire, Hardy said:
A performer is asked to do two things: to be disciplined and accountable, communicative and a pleasure to work with.
And then, within a split second, they’re asked to be a psychopath. Authentically. It takes a very strong human being to sustain a genuine sense of well-being through that baptism of fire.
