Actor, activist and well-renowned edge lord Shia LaBeouf is set to star in his most daring film yet… which happens to be about Shia LeBeouf.

While some may easily mistake and dismiss this as a vanity project by a narcissistic Hollywood elite, those who have followed the controversial thespian’s career know the truth – it is, in fact, the most Shia LaBeouf thing Shia LaBeouf has ever done in the history of Shia LaBeouf.

Before you ask no it’s isn’t called Shia LaBeouf As Shia LaBeouf, it’s titled Honey Boy which was his nickname growing up.

To complicate matters even worse the man we once knew from the irritating loveable Even Stevens isn’t even playing himself, instead he’ll be playing his father.

However, if you look at it in a metaphorical way, Shia LaBeouf is playing Shia LaBeouf because didn’t Shia LaBeouf come from the sperm of Shia LaBeouf’s father? It’s pure Shia LaBeouf-inception.

Taking the prestigious role of Shia LaBeouf will be actor Lucas Hedges who starred in critically acclaimed films such as Manchester By The Sea, Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Hedges will be playing a younger version of Shia LaBeouf while LaBeouf has cast himself as Shia LaBeouf’s law-breaking, alcohol-abusing father.

The story will follow the journey of Shia LaBeouf’s attempts to mend his broken relationship with his father over the course of a decade. It will be directed by Alma Har’el, this will be her first feature-length debut as she has mostly shot for music videos, short films and documentaries, Variety reports.

Never forget this classic piece of acting from Shia LaBeouf:

The former child star can be viewed as an anomaly (at the best of times), some have even noted that his behaviour on set can be quite confrontational. This can usually be put down to his dedication as an actor who likes to fully commit to a role, or as the professionals call it: method acting.

While some may not warm to his ‘commitment’ others see as a testament to his craft, one person who falls within the later is Tom Hardy. According to an article by Esquire, during his character preparation, he often blurred ‘the line between acting and reality’.

He would drink moonshine ‘by the gallon’, carve messages into Mia Wasikowska’s hotel room, and at one point apparently hit Tom Hardy so hard he knocked him out.

You’d expect Hardy, who is known himself to carry some on-set heat with his fellow cast members (just ask Charlize Theron), to harbour some animosity towards him. However, rather surprisingly he said he respected the hell out of him for doing it. He claimed LaBeouf’s behaviour is a symptom of the ‘paradoxical’ job of an actor.

Talking to Esquire, Hardy said:

A performer is asked to do two things: to be disciplined and accountable, communicative and a pleasure to work with.

And then, within a split second, they’re asked to be a psychopath. Authentically. It takes a very strong human being to sustain a genuine sense of well-being through that baptism of fire.

Drama is not known to attract stable types.

If he did that to Tom Hardy, I’m really scared for what he could do to poor young Hedges. Go easy on him, mate.
