A singer offered a swift boot to the head of a man who tried to grope her on stage while she was performing.
The incident occurred when pop singer Gebby Vesta, was performing at a nightclub in Central Java, Indonesia.
While performing on stage she crouched down, which was when an overzealous fan attempted to slide his hands between her thighs. So she retaliated by kicking him in the head, giving the man a life lesson he will never forget.
Taking place in December 2017, the 32-year-old singer and DJ introduced the fan to the bottom of her heel after he tried reaching for her crotch area. He was then quickly escorted out of the club by security.
Since then, she has gone on to use her experience as a warning for fans who think it’s okay to grope female performers on stage.
She explained:
I kicked his face and my heart was still not satisfied. What he did was not appropriate.
Wearing sexy clothes is part of the job I do. The nightclub expect this as part of the contract when they hire you. But it doesn’t mean that people can touch whatever they want to.
Gebby also called out the nightclub staff, stating:
I was disappointed that the nightclub security staff did not remove the man before this happened and allowed him the space to do this.
I could have caused a lot more problems and complaints after the incident but the club has apologised to me personally.
I want the video to be a lesson for other club to ensure their staff are treated with respect. I have been all around Indonesia singing and never been treated so rudely by a guest.
A similar incident took place in May this year when sports reporter Maria Fernanda Mora was groped by a fan during a live post-match broadcast in Mexico.
It happened outside Guadalajara’s stadium after the team beat Toronto in the CONCACAF Champions League Final. While Mora was giving her report she was joined by boisterous fans happy at their team’s victory. However, one fan took it too far and saw it fit to inappropriately touch her.
Realising what just happened she turned around immediately to face him, hitting him with her microphone in the process. It left the fan stunned – presumably because he did not expect her to react in such a way – before he walked away confused.
Soon afterwards, Mora, clearly frustrated, walks off camera. She later took to Twitter and Instagram to defend her actions and stated she had no regrets for her ‘reaction at all’.
Mora wrote:
What happened to me at dawn on Thursday, happens to thousands of women every day in public spaces. The difference is that it happened to me during a live link on television and I decided to defend myself. My reaction is what turned the fact into something viral.
I thought, It could be an accidental rubbing because of people’s pushing and I kept talking to the camera. This guy, emboldened because I did not react and kept doing my job, put his hand between my buttocks twice more. I decided to defend myself.
As stated previously there’s an important lesson in all of this: always keep your hands to yourself.
