Six Minutes Of Battlefront 3 Footage Shows Up Online

Star Wars Battlefront 3 will always be the one that got away. Sometimes at night, I still look up at the sky and wonder what might have been.

As we all know by now, before DICE released its 2015 reboot, developer Free Radical Design had worked on – and nearly finished – a Battlefront 3 that was more in line with original games that we all knew and loved.

We may never know exactly why it didn’t come to pass. Some say George Lucas crept into Free Radical’s HQ in the middle of the night and gobbled up all the work they’d done.

By some, I mean me. That’s my theory, and it’s almost certainly a lie. The far more likely outcome is that it was a victim of EA acquiring the rights to every Star Wars video game between now and the end of time.

Still, every now and then, a chunk of Battlefront 3 shows up online for us to drool over. This time, it’s an extended look at some gameplay footage.

The video (which you can watch below) apparently shows the first part of the game’s first mission. We’re treated to a squad of clone troopers fighting off a horde of battle droids.

I know it hurts. But we can take a least some comfort from the fact that DICE’s Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be including a campaign mode.
