A skydiver sent his wife a video foretelling his own suicide, moments before jumping from a plane to his death, purposefully failing to pull the chord on his parachute.
Capotorto Vitantonio, 27, made a final videocall to his wife Costanza Zitellini, telling her her was going ‘somewhere wonderful’ before taking his own life, reports the Daytona Beach News Journal.
Police in DeLand, around 40 miles north of Orlando, Florida, said Zitellini had received the tragic clip and immediately run to the skydiving base – one of America’s busiest skydiving points.

Zitellini reportedly begged a Sky Dive DeLand employee to radio up to the plane in a desperate attempt to stop her husband committing suicide.
Her arrival was “moments too late” and Vitantonio – an experienced sky diver with 600 jumps – had already exited the plane. Vitantonio was found dead about 10:25 a.m. Tuesday in a field southeast of the local airport runways.
Both he and his wife worked for United Parachute Technologies, a local firm that makes parachute containers.

Mike Johnson, Sky Dive DeLand’s general manager told the Daytona Beach News-Journal: “We give our [customers] a safe ride to altitude and we transport them using aircraft that has been considered the best maintained in the industry. When a person steps out the door, they are responsible for themselves.”
Tara Richards, an employee at Skydive DeLand, told police that Vitantonio seemed “normal” when he arrived at the jump site.
