Peter Dinklage was the guest host on last night’s new episode of Saturday Night Live, so you just knew a Game of Thrones sketch was coming – and it was absolutely glorious.
SNL put together a fake behind-the-scenes teaser for the upcoming, highly anticipated season 6 of GoT, and it revealed some interesting tidbits about how the show is made.
You see, in SNL’s world, the famous dragons on Game of Thrones aren’t CGI at all, but live-action, unitard-wearing actors in motion capture costumes.
Think Andy Serkis as Gollum in Lord of the Rings, except Bobby Moynihan’s Drogon does not look like he’d be much fun to work with, generally making a nuisance of himself by getting in the other actors’ way and making up his own lines.
Game of Thrones finally returns to our screens on April 24 and Dinklage also revealed in his SNL opening monologue that he has absolutely no idea whether Jon Snow is alive or dead.
He said:
For those of you who don’t watch ‘Game of Thrones’ let’s get this out of the way – I have no idea if Jon Snow is really dead. I even have the new scripts, but if I’m not in the scene, Petey no read-y.
It seems we just can’t get a straight answer on the fate of poor Jon Snow. At least it’s only three weeks to go now until we actually find out though!
