Last Friday night legendary rapper Tupac Shakur was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame by his friend and fellow iconic rapper Snoop Dogg.

The late-great-rapper was inducted alongside iconic musicians such as ELO, Journey, Joan Baez, Pearl Jam, Yes and Nile Rodgers – who was inducted by Pharrell Williams.

Whilst a lot of the recent news on the rapper has mainly been on the subject of his death in 1996, we must say it’s refreshing to do a story that covers his important influence – not just on hip-hop – but music as a whole.

He becomes only the sixth rapper to be inducted, joining the esteemed company of Run DMC, Public Enemy, The Beastie Boys, NWA, Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five. All of whom are pioneers in hip-hop culture.

In front of a large capacity cloud at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York big Snoop Dogg reflects on the life of his former Death Row label mate.

The Long Beach, California rapper credited his late friend for putting him unto smoking blunts and dubbed him ‘the greatest rapper of all time’.

According to those in attendance he even shared a funny anecdote about the two going parasailing, which alone makes for funny imagery.

The induction was followed by performances by Snoop, fellow LA rapper YG, Alicia Keys, Treach from Naughty-By-Nature (who meet 2Pac back in 1990 when he was dancing for the Digital Underground) and T.I.

Furthermore, this year will also see the rapper’s long-awaited biopic, All Eyez On Me Come, finally make it’s way to the big screen. The movie will be dropping on June 15 in the UK and will star relative newcomer Demetrius Shipp Jr.as the iconic rapper.

It will also star The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira as his mother Afeni and Jamal Woodward as his friend-turned-bitter rival The Notorious B.I.G. Woodward was notable for playing the iconic Brooklyn rapper in the Notorious biopic.

This year’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame will be aired tonight on HBO where you can watch 2Pac’s induction and find out what that ‘odd’ parasailing story is all about.
