The season of good will and giving is just around the corner and it’s at this time of year that time of when we should look out for our common man. That’s where the website DoSomething.org comes in, by recommending global charity campaigns designed to help a number of causes.

We’ve taken a look at some of the great causes you can get involved with.

The (not) Stuck in Traffic campaign encourages people to donate their unwanted clothes to charity, but to include a special hidden note. They want donors to write the number for your local people trafficking number, in a hidden place on the clothes, so that these poor people can get help.

We Are Able

This campaign hopes to help children with disabilities who are disproportionately vulnerable to violence, exploitation and abuse. To reduce this, campaigners want people to promote individual abilities and special skills. They provide a blank “I am able” sheet which you fill in with your greatest skill which you then tweet out with the hashtag #weareable.

Positivity Page

The internet can be a nasty place, with 1 in 10 children around the world saying they’ve been bullied online. The Positivity Page hopes to counter this by getting filling your friends’ Facebook feeds with positive posts instead of negative ones, to promote healthier self-esteem.

Shower Songs

The world’s population is growing bigger and bigger and this is putting pressure on available water resources. There have been terrible droughts this year and the problems only going to get worse.  The Shower song campaign encourages people to create a 5 minute playlist of songs so that people can time their showers and by reducing shower time to five minutes, the average person can save more than 1,500 gallons of water a year.
