Shocking photos show the horrifying state of an emaciated four-month old puppy left abandoned at the side of the road.
The half-starved lurcher was found on Wednesday and was in such a poor condition that he could barely stand up on his paws.
A passer-by spotted the dog in Willenhall Lane, Coventry, and immediately got in touch with the RSPCA whose staff took him to their nearest Animal Centre.
The unfortunate pup, who’s been named William by staff, was rushed to a veterinary hospital, and he is now recovering at the charity’s Coventry Animal Centre.

RSPCA staff are now investigating how the dog came to be curled up on the side of the road, who the dog belongs to and how he came to be so thin.
RSPCA inspector Nicky Foster said:
William was found curled up on the pavement next to the side of the road in Willenhall Lane and he could barely stand up. He looks like a walking skeleton. He is the thinnest dog I have seen in the 10 years I have been an inspector. You can see every single bone in his body.
As soon as the vet saw him, he was admitted straight away. He has been given fluids and is being monitored. He is being given small bits of food to get him used to it and is on a heated mat, as his temperature was so low. William has been through so much already and has had such a rubbish start to life but he is now in the right place. We want to find out where William has come from and how he ended up in the state he is in.

The RSPCA has urged anyone who has any information about the dog to contact them on 0300 123 8018.
This is horrific. Let’s hope they can get to the bottom of this one and bring whoever left poor William in this state to justice soon!
