South Park: The Fractured But Whole Gets Ridiculous Behind The Scenes Video

Ubisoft has dropped a new behind the scenes video for the brilliantly titled South Park: The Fractured But Whole.

In it, South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker talk about the premise of the new RPG, which apparently picks up a whole day after its predecessor, The Stick of Truth.

Developers from Ubisoft also pop up to talk about some of the game’s new features, and chat about how animating a South Park game is a lot more difficult than you or I might imagine.

Of course, while Stick of Truth was all about lampooning the fantasy genre, Fractured But Whole is aiming to rip the piss out of the (arguably bloated) superhero franchise craze of the modern world.

Apparently, a fantastically meta twist sees the South Park kids begin the events of the new game because they’re bored of Stick of Truth. Naturally, they decide to go be superheroes instead.

Almost as if to reflect this superhero theme, one of the main questions honestly posed during development was; ‘how can we make farts more powerful?’

It might be too soon to call it, but I’m thinking this is gonna be game of the decade.

Check out the seven minute development diary below, which is worth watching almost entirely for the end of the video, when Stone and Parker reveal how the name Fractured But Whole came about.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be released on December 6 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC – there’s even a $190 (roughly £144) special edition copy that comes with a remote-controlled ‘Coon Mobile.’ What a time to be alive.
