PAThe chief constable of South Yorkshire Police has been suspended following the results of an inquest into the Hillsborough disaster.
On Tuesday jurors revealed their verdict that the 96 victims of the tragedy were unlawfully killed.
As reported by the BBC, David Crompton admitted in 2012 that ‘grave errors’ were made, and he apologised ‘profoundly’.
GettyHours prior to the announcement of Crompton’s suspension the force issued a statement explaining coroner, Sir John Goldring, ruled ‘to admit the previous 2012 apology by the Chief Constable into proceedings would be ‘wrong’ and ‘highly prejudicial’.
Crompton reportedly apologised again after the verdict was revealed.
Jurors not only found the 96 Liverpool fans were unlawfully killed, but that police failings were involved.
