This year’s effort has now wrapped up, with organizers announcing that the event raised an incredible $1.29 million for charity, besting last year’s 1.2 million and setting a new record for SGDQ.
This year’s event saw a typically wide range of games being smashed through in all manner of impressive ways. There was a glitch speedrun of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (see below), as well as runs of Super Mario Bros 3, Diablo 2, and The Witness.
Other notable runs include Fallout 4 beaten in a little over an hour, and Skyrim bested in under an hour. For a full playlist of streamed games, head over to this YouTube page and browse till your heart’s content.
SGDQ 2016 wrapped up with four player run/race of Super Mario 64, and as was the case last year, all money raised goes towards the Doctors Without Borders charity.
Though final dates have yet to be announced, another SGDQ will of course be taking place next summer.
However, if you want some speedrun goodness in your life sooner, The Awesome Games Done Quick 2016 event begins on January 8, 2017. Head on over to the Games Done Quick website to learn more.
Congratulations to all the talented speedrunners, organisers, and anyone else who played a part in making SGDQ 2016 such a success.
