The Australian wildlife expert died in 2006 when he was struck by a stingray while shooting a documentary. He was 44 at the time. Bindi was just eight.

Bindi has followed in her father’s footsteps, working at the Australia Zoo in her home country’s state of Queensland. She also won Dancing With the Stars’ 21st season, paying tribute to her dad numerous times on the show.

Back in September, she also honoured the 10th anniversary of the crocodile hunter’s death.

Sharing an image of her father hoisting her up with one arm when she was an infant, she wrote: “You’ll be my hero for my entire existence. I love you more than words can describe.”

Last week, her brother Robert followed in his father’s footsteps by appearing on The Tonight Show, where he introduced host Jimmy Fallon to some of Australia’s craziest animals.

And the resemblance between father and son didn’t go unnoticed. Fallon said to Robert during the show: “This is so cool to see you. You’re actually… you’re your dad!”

Steve’s family continues to raise money for the Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors organisation, which was founded by the crocodile hunter and his wife, Terri, in 2002. They are hosting a Steve Irwin Gala in Los Angeles on May 13 to celebrate the life of the would-be 55-year-old.
