Anyone who has watched Netflix documentary Making a Murderer will undoubtedly have a lot of unanswered questions regarding Steven Avery and whether he’s actually guilty or not.

For a long while, it seemed Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey would spend the rest of their lives in prison for the murder of Teresa Halbach.

However, it seems everything is changing now, with the arrival of Kathleen Zellner – an esteemed conviction lawyer – who is hopeful of getting a retrial for Avery.

Within a matter of days of getting the job, she took to Twitter to let everyone know what was going on and, now in an interview with the TheLipTV (via Uproxx), she has not only claimed that there is new evidence to prove her client isn’t guilty, she also thinks it’s ‘fairly obvious’ who the killer really is.

In the interview, she said:

It’s the evidence. In having had a number of these cases, it has the signature of a wrongful conviction case. They only focused on him. They did not look at a lot of other suspects, certainly some very key people they should have been looking at.

There was a very poor investigation done of the victim’s background, who she was involved with, the circumstances of her life. It had all of the hallmarks of a wrongful conviction case. I also intend to prove who actually killed Teresa Halbach. It is fairly obvious if you review the record of the criminal case.

Well, Zellner seems pretty damn confident that her client is innocent, but we can only wait and see to if an appeal/retrial will ever take place.

She did also post the following tweets recently and it proves interesting reading if you’re one of the many still obsessed with the series.

Whether these social media outbursts will actually help Avery’s case remains unclear, but it’s definitely keeping his dire situation in the public gaze.
