A street entertainer, famous for balancing upside down with his head in a bucket, has died at the age of 23.
Travis Linton Galleymore, also know as ‘Bucket Man’, passed away after an incident in London, according to his family.
His brother, Keegan Galleymore, said:
He was the Bucket Man and a loving brother and very good man, who was not only hard working, but a well-educated South African-born human being.
But he struggled to find a good employer in the city of Plymouth were he felt most at home.
May his soul rest at peace.
Travis was born in Pietermaritzburg in South Africa, and had previously worked as an engineer and plumber for a yachting company. After moving to the UK he spent some time selling the Big Issue, then started his bucket act in 2009, regularly performing in Plymouth and Exeter.
His identity was unknown until he passed away, but he explained his act in an interview last year:
It’s difficult to explain; I had no alternative.
When I first came here I sold the Big Issue for a while, then I had a job getting cash in hand, then I had a problem with my visa, so I decided to put my head in a bucket.
If I was selling the Big Issue standing on my feet, maybe people wouldn’t really care.
I’m just upside down.
