The debt-ridden student, Luke Moore, spent two years on the run from the authorities as he maintained his extravagant lifestyle with money that wasn’t technically his to spend, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Since Moore was tracked down by New South Wales Police, his shocking spending habits – the result of a computer error allowing him to overdraw the account and spend a total of AU $2.1million – have come to light.
New South Wales PoliceMoore purchased an Aston Martin worth £54,000 as well as a £21,000 Maserati and a £32,000 speed boat.
As if these toys weren’t enough to keep Moore at home, he also treated himself to a number of luxury holidays.
Moore, who failed to alert his bank to the clerical error, also used the money to pay a mortgage, insurance and other bills.
He also blew money on a framed and signed Michael Jordan basketball shirt, because why the hell not?
New South Wales PoliceAfter being charged with fraud, the 29-year-old was handed a four-year jail term last year after the banking error was realised.
However, last week Moore walked free after winning an appeal against his conviction on the grounds that his actions were not deceptive.
He is currently living with his mum in Goulburn, New South Wales while studying to become a criminal lawyer… the irony is not lost on anyone.
