A new supersonic luxury plane is being developed and could get you from London to New York in a mere three hours.

Spike Aerospace’s S-512 Supersonic Jet was introduced in 2013, but the company recently announced that engineers are developing a few updates to the plane’s design.

The updated design could make the superfast plane even speedier – the company claims the S-512 could reach a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 (2,205 km/h), which is 1.8 times the speed of sound.

The new plane would be so fast that passengers could potentially fly from Paris to Dubai “for shopping and entertainment and (be) back home in time for dinner,” the company has claimed.

Apparently, this even speedier travel is facilitated by the plane’s newly designed “delta” wings and modified tail – the shape of which help reduce air resistance, which slows the plane down and decreases the fuel efficiency of the aircraft.

So, if you’ve ever thought that 8 hours is just too long to travel over 3,000 miles and visit the Big Apple, you may be in luck. Although we imagine flying on this bad boy won’t come cheap…
