Sometimes when you’re faced with an extremely dangerous situation, you just have to ignore it.

At least, that’s what this guy did.

Faced with an armed man trying to rob his eatery, he simply ignored him. And it worked.

Said Ahmed barely acknowledged a masked gunman who demanded cash after walking in into his Egyptian Kebab House in Christchurch, New Zealand, on May 28.

Ahmed was serving someone when the robber turned up at his shop and threatened him with the gun. But deciding to ‘take away the power’ from the gunman, he just carried on with his business and finished serving the counter. Then he turned around and walked away.

Footage of the incident posted by police on social media even show how Ahmed, who is originally from Egypt, even appeared to smile.

He told The Guardian:

The man wanted to frighten me and I decided he couldn’t do that.

I passed the customer his food because I wanted him to leave the shop and not be in any danger.

He added:

The robber was very confused by my behaviour. He wanted to scare me but I wasn’t scared, so I took away his power.

Since the incident, Ahmed has closed the takeaway shop earlier on Friday and Saturday nights. Canterbury police are continuing to investigate the attempted robbery.

Way to go, Ahmed.
