Taylor Swift and a number of other A-list celebrities have come to the defense of pop star Kesha, after she lost her legal battle with Sony records and producer Dr Luke.
Kesha had been fighting for a temporary injunction to abolish her exclusive Sony record contract with music producer Dr. Luke, real name Luke Gottwald, on Friday. She claims Gottwald sexually and physically abused her during their ten years working together, Mashable reports.
Gottwald denies the allegations and has said that her lawsuit was an attempt by the singer, her mother, and new management firm to force him into releasing her from her contract.
A spokesperson for Swift confirmed that swift had donated $250,000 to Kesha ‘in a show of support’ and ‘to help with any of her financial needs during this trying time.’ The representative for Swift had no further comment on the singer’s donation to Kesha.
Swift is just one of a number of celebrities who have shown support for the pop singer following the courts ruling.
A Change.org petition has also been created, calling for a boycott of Sony products and music which the time of writing the petition had more than 220,000 signatures.
