A 14-year-old girl has died after being thrown out of a malfunctioning fairground ride in mid-air.
According to the People’s Daily Online, the teenager, from China, was at an amusement park in Fengdu County, Chongqing when the horrific accident occurred.
The girl was pronounced dead at the hospital after failed resuscitation attempts, local media outlets reported.
An onlooker captured the terrifying ordeal as it happened, with the footage showing the girl falling out of her seat.
Still attached to the bar, she then dangles in the air for a few seconds, spins and is then thrown out of the ride.
Visitors screamed in shock as the teenager hit the ground, with several onlookers than seen trying to save her and administer CPR.
An official from the Propaganda Bureau of Fengdu country confirmed that the accident had taken place to a reporter from the Chongqing Morning Post.
They explained that the machine had malfunctioned, and that the visitor who had died was a 14-year-old girl.
She was taken to the People’s Hospital of Fengdu County, but doctors were unable to save her.
The accident is now being investigated by the local authorities.
